Being Authentic Online

In 2023, 92% of adults in the UK use social media. Although more of us seem to be making the decision to engage on these platforms less, it is still important for us to recognise that most of the public, policymakers, media, potential employers, potential participants are spending huge amounts of their free time online – and knowing how to communicate meaningfully with them on these platforms can be an incredibly positive experience.

In comparison to the photo-shopped, plastic, perfect photos we saw some years ago, customers are now more appreciative than ever to see relatable and authentic content online. Therefore, it is important to consider how you want to portray yourself online before jumping in. Not only will you engage more people, but you are likely to have a more positive experience if you are being honest to yourself and your values.
