DTA Images of Research 2024

During the 2024 DTA Summer School, researchers were asked whether they could summarise their research with a single image?  

DTA PhD students were challenged to submit an image with a short 150-word abstract that represented their research project or topic area for our ‘Images of Research’ competition.

Voters evaluated the images according to the following criteria: 

Title 

• Is the title engaging and relevant to the image? 
• Is the title accessible with a clear message for a lay audience? 

Image 

• Does the image capture a clear message about the essence of the research area? 
• Does the image entice the viewer to want to ask questions about the project? 

Abstract 

• Does the abstract adequately explain the image and area of research to a lay audience? 
• Does the abstract engage, intrigue and inform a lay audience?
