Getting Started with the Writing Process

Workshop overview

Writing a thesis can be a daunting task and the biggest piece of writing that most of us will ever undertake. Delivered by Professor David Smith from Anglia Ruskin University, this session will explore how to get started with writing from recognising the underlying structure, tasks and progression that all thesis’ follow; chapter outlines; breaking the thesis down to build it up; how to plan and planning before writing; paragraphs, subsections and chapters; referencing and paraphrasing; conventions of academic writing and common mistakes to avoid.
